Town lose again

In the first half Town never got going at all and were pretty much awful, 2nd to most balls and couldnt keep hold of the ball for more than 2 passes. Goals from Scott Mooney and Dale Johnson put the visitors 2-0 up, before Graeme Armstrong reduced the score with his penalty kick, a solidly struck kick to the right of the goal.. An own goal from debutant Jake Picton completed the scoring.

Ciaran Toner went close to scoring the opening goal on seven minutes, but his shot went just wide. Richard Pell made a clearance on the line eight minutes later, but MOONEY was on hand to put the ball in the net. Before half-time, there were a couple of chances for Liam Hardy to equalise, whilst free kicks from Wayne Phillips and Martin Foster were dealt with by 'keeper Russell Saunders.

Town started the second half brightly, but found themselves further behind on 56 minutes. After shrugging off the attention of Matt Bloomer, Mooney's cross evaded both Pell and Keiran Gonzalez presenting JOHNSON with an easy finish.

A soft penalty was awarded to Town on 65 minutes when Dean Stott was adjudged to have fouled Wayne Phillips, giving ARMSTRONG the opportunity to smash home his eighth goal of the season. But, Hyde's two goal advantage was restored soon after when PICTON flicked on Saunder's long goal kick past Gonzalez into his own net.

Town failed to respond and in the final stages Hyde were the stronger of the teams.

Town snatch win at New Mills

In was back to the FA cup again this season, Lets say Town were hoping to put up a better challenge this season in the FA Cup, Last season they got thrashed by Bradford Park Avenue in the opening round. We dont want to go into that again, thats in the past and lets hope we could get a result today.

The game started well for Town they were pushing forward from the kick off and were causing New Mills problems all over the place Wayne Phillips was the main threat. On 7 Minutes town took the lead a cross from Wayne Phillips from the left was deflected into his own net by mark innes, there wouldve been a tap in anyway for Hardy if the defender hadnt put it in his own net.

Only 5 minutes later town went further ahead, a ball from Phillips in to Hardys feet, he turned ran at the defeder and was clearly brought down for a penalty for Town, up stepped Graeme Armstrong to slot away the penalty.  2-0 to town, it looked like we would go on and win this game comfortably.

The second half however was all New Mills and they really shouldve scored at least once, one shot from outside the area just went wide of the top left corner, and a decent stop from Gonzalez. I dont thinnk we even had a shot in the 2nd half. Not the best performance by any means but were through and lets hope performances improve as fast as possible.

Town taught a footballing lesson at Nuneaton

Nuneaton Town 3-0 Harrogate Town
Before the game, Town fans were hoping they could get back on track after a couple of poor results and with some key players coming back into the squad we really expected something out of the game today. That didn't happen as Nuneaton brushed us aside with a first half thrashing, within 20 minutes the scoring was over, Nuneaton scored 3 in the opening 20 minutes!!! It felt like it was going to be boston all over again. Well it turned out to be not just as bad today but still not accpetable at all.

The opening goal came on 12 minutes after Nuneaton started off brighter than Harrogate, they made the breakthrough thanks to some awful defending from Harrogate Town, Pell left the ball for Gonzalez, Gonzalez didnt arrive and Marsden for Nuneaton nipped in and tapped the ball home.

A good effort from Phillips from a free-kick pulled a good save out of Nuneaton keeper Alcock which kept town at bay. Straight from the save Nuneaton were back on the offensive and they got another goal. Dominic Roma failed to stop Eddie Nisevic getting through and he slotted through the keepers legs to make it 2-0 to nuneaton.

On 20 minutes the 3rd goal arrived and it was nuneaton again, Lee Moore managed to get past Bloomer and drilled it in off the post to make it 3-0 to Nuneaton.  A minute later Gonzalez had to make a great save, tipping the ball over the bar to prevent even more embarrassment on Harrogate Town.

Just before the interval, Liam Hardy had a chance to pull a goal back but the keeper parried it round the post, from the resulting corner Armstrong had a header very well saved and pell rather smashed the rebound high into the sky.

The second shalf was a rather subdued affair it seemed Nuneaton had taken their foot off the pedal abit, although Town did improve there was no way back for them, the game ending with a Toner shot being collected by the keeper.

So another heavy defeat for Town surely Simon Weaver must be feeling the pressure now. I was listening to Yorkshire Radio after tha game and Town fans were actually texting in, i havn't seen that for years, they were not happy at all asking weaver to resign. But at the moment weaver is still in charge and will take us into out next match against at New Mills in the FA Cup, a game there is no doubt we should be winning.

Harrogate Town: Keiran Gonzalez, Dominic Roma, Paul Talbot, Steve Bowey (James Naylor), Richard Pell, Matt Bloomer, Martin Foster (Lee Ellington), Ciaran Toner, Graham Armstrong (Aiden Savory), Liam Hardy, Wayne Phillips

Nuneaton Town: Danny Alcock, Matty Collins  (Rob Oddy, James Armson), Gareth Dean, Stuart Pierpoint, Simon Forsdick, Donovan Simmonds, Adam Walker, Mark Noon, Eddie Nisevic, Lee Moore (Chris Dillon), Justin Marsden

Nuneaton Town Vs Harrogate Town

VS

Harrogate are on there travels again this saturday as they make there way to the Triton Showers Community Arena in Nuneaton.

So far this season Nuneaton have won 4, drawn 3 and lost 2. Compare this to Harrogate Town who have won 2, drawn 3 and lost 3. Nuneaton clearly having the best start out but if town play to their potential with the players at Simon Weavers disposal we should definately be able to give them a tough test today.

                               Kick-off - 18th september - 3pm

CMON HARROGATE! We can grab a win tomorrow!

Town sign keeper Gonzalez

As reported earlier Dootson left the club so it was inevitable that we were going to need a replacement, Kieran Gonzalez arrives at Town to do just that and started his first game against Vauxhall on saturday playing well in a 1-1 draw.

The last club he played for was North Queensland Razorbacks over in Australia, where he seems to have got some great reviews from people who have seen him play out there one person had this to say ;
This goalie has talent, i have seen him play over the years and he is certainly a quality goalkeeper. He is the most agile goalie i have seen for many years and can make some unbelievable saves. He has everything to be a professional footballer and his attitude and passion for the game as mentioned in his article is admirable. Don't let him go Fury. Good Luck Kieran we from Brisbane would come to see you play.
In the summer he had trials at Stockport County, and made a few appearances for Stalybridge Celtic during pre-season.

Welcome to the CNG stadium Kieran!

Town fight for a point at Vauxhall

I was unable to attend today at Rivacre Park, as unfortunately i am only able to make it to the near by games. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. Before the game i was hoping for a good solid win and hoped the new keeper Gonzalez would be upto the job of relplacing Dootson. I listened to it on the radio throughout and it sounded like we had the chances to put the game to bed but it seemed like it was just one of those days where the ball just wouldnt hit the back of the net.

Weaver made a number of changes beforehand bringing back into the defence the expeienced pair of Pell and Bloomer after a number of poor performances recently. Also Paul Talbot was in at left back, after a solid pre-season he picked up an injury and this was his first game in the league. Nowakowski was also drafted into centre midfield to add some height to the side.

From what i heard on the radio, the changes seemed to have changed our style of play, it was getting played on the deck alot more which had been a point from Town fans recently who were frustrated by the long ball tactics. Wayne Phillips just fired wide after 10 minutes, and a few minutes later Toner forced a decent save from Scott Tynan in the Vauxhall goal. Vauxhall also had a couple of chances theirselves Mahon fired just over and a 30-yard effort from Paul Brown was saved well from new signing Gonzalez.

On 30minutes, Town had the ball in the back of the net, hardy poked in from close range after a foster cross, only for the referee to spot his assistants flag for offside and the goal was ruled out. A cracking throw-out from Gonzalez then set Phillips away , he fired just wide.

The second half then got under way, Vauxhall seemed to have been given a good talking to at half time and came out strong, Anorou firing just over when in on goal. Then Neil Prince had an attempt but again it was a poor effort straight at Gonzalez. However, on 59 minutes Vauxhall went ahead, their leading goalscorer Anorou got played through he outpaced the Town backline and smashed into the back of the net with a good low drive.

Vauxhall were really on top at this point, But on 80 minutes they were down to 10 men, as Vauxhall defender Andy Taylor was given his 2nd yellow card and sent off. From this Town seemed to find some encouragement and came back into the game and were really pressurising the Vauxhall back four. Then right at the end Town managed to grab an equaliser Phillips managed to beat Tynon with a cracking finish which the keeper got no where near, it was definately coming for Town who had 2 earlier efforts cleared off the line.

Harrogate Town: Gonzalez, Roma, Talbot, Nowakowski, Pell, Bloomer, Foster, Toner, Armstrong (Savory 46), Hardy (Ellington 77), Phillips
